We are so excited about this Covid safe summer program. We will be offering an Adventure Day Camp and we’ll be going out each day on a new and unique experience. We will focus on skill building via high impact adventure, fun, connection and personal growth.
Why day camp? We usually do a five day wilderness overnight trip with these girls. However with Covid still in play and kids not being vaccinated there’s no need to put ourselves in an unsafe situation. This age group is still young enough to need hands on support and they prefer sharing tents and cooking together, which is what a multi-day wilderness trip would entail. It is during these times that would be difficult to manage our Covid safety protocols. As you know Covid safety is important to us and we have innovated programming this year to meet the challenge that programming in a pandemic has provided. We are so excited to still be able to offer powerful summer programming while keeping staff and students safe.
A day camp model gives us a unique opportunity for the boys to experience a wider range of activities and skills than what is typically possible. The trip below is packed with quality opportunities that range from high country peak bagging to paddling and rock climbing!
Here is the Trip Schedule:
Day 1: Adventure hike day exploring the high Black Mountain ridges including some of the highest peaks on the east coast like Mount Mitchell and Mount Craig. Stunning views and travel through beautiful, rugged high elevation forest!
Day 2: Rock Climbing. This is a great opportunity for the boys to get on belay and have fun in a vertical world. They will also learn to belay if they want to. Overall a magical day in the wilderness supporting and encouraging friends to challenge themselves.
Day 3: We’ll base out of a beautiful pine forest for a fun day of action including: a wilderness first aid simulation, fire building, playing in a pine forest creek, and of course delicious ice cream on the way home!
Day 4: Canoeing on Lake James. Another fun day and a chance to swim and play in the water. The boys will also hone their paddling skills, including canoe rescues.
Day 5: Bouldering in the morning and then a fun art project and reflection in the afternoon to close out the experience.
There is space for 12 Boys to participate.
Tuition is $395
Once you sign up, we’re asking for a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your space. (If you do decide to drop out, we are happy to refund your deposit as long as that space can be filled by another student).
We will send participants full details closer to the Adventure Camp start.
