Aspens Group
Feb 21+22: Climbing Weekend Trip at the TAASC climbing gym in Morganton – This is a great opportunity for the Aspens to climb, boulder, rappel, prusik, belay and challenge themselves. There are plenty of other fun activities to add to the mix like slacklines and going up into the tree house, and potentially rappelling out of it! Plus spending this much time together and eating out Sat night is so fun! (9.00 am Sat – 3.00 pm Sun)
April 18+19: Backpacking Weekend Trip (8.30 am Sat – 3.00 pm Sun)
May 3 : Climbing at Looking Glass. Aspens will spend the day climbing the southside of Looking Glass Rock, one of the most iconic climbing areas in Western North Carolina. With big rock, beautiful movement, and a true “earned” approach, this experience invites students on an amazing climbing adventure. We are so excited to get the Aspens out on rock that is different from our normal climbing crag. It’s going to be an amazing day of granite, laughter and friendship. And the kind of end-of-day tired that comes from doing something big—with skill, heart, and each other. (8.30 – 5.00 pm).

Oaks Group
Feb 28+March 1: Climbing Weekend Trip at the TAASC climbing gym in Morganton – This is a great opportunity for these ladies to climb, boulder, rappel, prusik, belay and challenge themselves. April 25-26: Backpacking Weekend Adventure (8.30 am Sat – 3.00 pm Sun)
May 16: Bouldering at Rumbling Bald. The girls will spend the day bouldering at Rumbling Bald, a beautiful granite playground. They will learn the fundamentals of bouldering: how to move safely on rock, use balance and footwork, “read” a climb like a puzzle, and spot for one another with focus and care. Between climbs we’ll explore the forest, play games, and build outdoor skills like awareness, trail etiquette, and caring for natural spaces. We’ll talk about what courage really looks like (hint: it’s not the absence of fear), practice encouraging ourselves and others, and celebrate effort as much as success. Oaks will leave the day a little stronger—in their bodies, in their friendships, and in their belief that they can do hard things. Expect lots of laughter, plenty of snack breaks, and that special end-of-day glow that comes from unplugging, moving your body, and being part of a team outside (8.30am – 5.00pm)

Redwoods Group
March 7: Backcountry Navigation Course. On this day trip, students will take on a backcountry navigation course in Pisgah National Forest—moving beyond “following the trail” and into the real-world skills of finding your way as an expedition team. Girls will practice the foundations of navigation in a hands-on, challenge-based format: reading topographic maps, identifying terrain features, orienting a map, taking and following bearings, and using pace counting + timing to estimate distance. We’ll also work on modern decision-making skills: how to check your location, confirm what you see around you, and make a plan when things don’t match the map. Expect a day that feels like a real expedition puzzle: problem-solving, teamwork, laughter, and that deep satisfaction that comes from earning your way through the woods—not by luck, but by skill. (8.30 am – 5.00 pm)
